Who is the Commission?

Commissioners

  • The Commission consists of up to eight members appointed by Governor in Council.
  • The Chief Commissioner is a full-time member of the Commission and is appointed for a term not exceeding seven years.
  • Other members may be appointed as full-time or part-time members of the Commission.
  • Full-time members are appointed for terms not exceeding seven years and part-time members for terms not exceeding three years.
  • The Commissioners come from different parts of Canada and a variety of backgrounds.
  • Commissioners meet regularly throughout the year to review cases and discuss the work of the Commission.
