New Libel Act inacted in Manitoba
Winnipeg, Manitoba
1934
Now here's a law ahead of its time...
Manitoba passes a new Libel Act. It lets a person seek an injunction
to stop a libel based on race or creed against him or her if the libel
is likely to expose persons of that race or creed to hatred, contempt
or ridicule.
Did you know?
The Criminal Code makes it a crime to publicly incite hate. See:
R. v. Keegstra
