Ms. Erskine is a partner at the law firm McInnes Cooper, and has vast experience in the field of human rights law in the workplace. She has appeared as counsel before human rights commissions and human rights tribunals in six provinces, and has been a regular speaker on human rights law at local and national conferences. Ms. Erskine has also worked as a part-time mediator and adjudicator with the Public Service Staffing Tribunal.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree at University of King's College in Halifax in 1992, Ms. Erskine completed her Bachelor of Laws at Dalhousie University. She also completed the advanced program in human resource management through the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, as well as a Master of Laws in labour relations and employment law at Osgoode Hall Law School.
Ms. Erskine was admitted to the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society in 1996, the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1998, and the Law Society of Alberta in 2003. She received the Certified Human Resource Professional designation in 2005.
An active member of her professional community, Ms. Erskine spearheaded the founding of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers, and served as Chair of the National Labour and Employment Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association. She has also been director of both the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia and Halifax's Neptune Theatre. Ms. Erskine is also active in the Human Resources Association of Nova Scotia.
