Policy on the Application of Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act
The Commission has released its policy on the application of Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act,  to clarify its procedures when inquiries are received, relating to the transmission of hateful messages on the Internet or through other electronic methods of communication.

Policy on Alcohol and Drug Testing
The Canadian Human Rights Commission has recently revised its policy on Alcohol and Drug Testing, to reflect the most recent jurisprudence.

Aboriginal Employment Preferences Policy
This revised policy replaces the 1990 policy and is the result of a two-year policy review that included two rounds of consultations with First Nations. As in the original policy, the revised policy provides that First Nations employers can, in accordance with the provisions of the policy, give preference in employment to Aboriginal persons.

Policy and Procedures on the Accommodation of Mental Illness - October 2008
This internal policy of the Canadian Human Rights Commission is being made available to other organizations as a model they can adapt for their own use. Please note that links to the Commission’s intranet site will not function.

This policy is issued to encourage employers and service providers to proactively address issues of accommodation for persons with environmental sensitivities.

Policy on Special Programs
A policy explaining the Commission’s understanding of what constitutes a special program for purposes of the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Employment Equity Act. This policy is issued to assist employers and service providers to develop and put in place appropriate special programs when these are used to ensure equality is achieved.
