Overview

Preventing Discrimination

The Discrimination Prevention Branch is responsible for all aspects of prevention and communications activities, as well as ensuring that federally regulated employers meet the requirement of the Employment Equity Act

We are committed to a broad strategy of discrimination prevention that works with federally regulated organizations and assists them in creating and sustaining a culture of human rights in the workplace.

The Commission partners with employers, community groups and others to increase commitment to human rights. It also works with various media and takes advantage of technologies, such as the Internet, to ensure that as many people as possible, from coast to coast, have access to information about human rights.

Through stakeholder engagement, it hopes to reduce the incidence of discrimination, decrease the number of complaints related to human rights, and encourage inclusiveness.
