CHRC celebrates key milestone for LGBTQ2 rights around the world

July 4, 2016 – Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Human Rights Commission

The Canadian Human Rights Commission celebrates the UN Human Rights Council decision to create a Special Expert on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Violence and discrimination against people because of who they are or who they love continues to be a troubling reality around the globe and here at home. Our diversity is our strength. We must continue to defend our cherished values of pluralism, inclusion, and equality here and around the world.

We are encouraged by this recognition by the international community of the importance of protecting the human rights and dignity of LGBTQ2 people.
