People who come to the Commission are able to file complaints under three acts – the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Accessible Canada Act and the Pay Equity Act.
If you believe you have experienced discrimination or harassment, you may be able to file a human rights complaint with the Commission.
The first step in filing a human rights complaint is telling us what happened, why it happened, and where you were when it happened.
If you have suffered harm because of a federally regulated organization’s accessibility plans, feedback processes and progress reports, you may be able to file a complaint with the Accessibility Commissioner.
If you face a barrier when dealing with an organization, your first step should be to contact the organization to let them know through their feedback process.
If you believe that an employer or a bargaining agent has not fulfilled its obligations and responsibilities under the Pay Equity Act, you may be able to file a complaint with the Pay Equity Commissioner.
Employers, bargaining agents and non-unionized employees’ representatives should first try to resolve the dispute internally. If the issue cannot be resolved internally, please visit the page Get help to resolve a dispute for more information.
