CHRC statement on the First Nations Control of First Nations Education Act

Ottawa, February 10, 2014 The Canadian Human Rights Commission commends the Government of Canada and the Assembly of First Nations on reaching an agreement to proceed with the final drafting and introduction of the First Nations Control of First Nations Education Act.

It is our hope that the dialogue will continue and that this progress will result in providing First Nations children living on reserve with high quality education that reflects and respects Indigenous languages and cultures and is comparable to that provided to other children in Canada.
